FSM Chassis is a versatile chassis, which can mount single FSMs as well as Wide FSMs for 19 or 23 equipment rack applications. 12 FSMs or 6 Wide FSMs can be installed to one chassis, and are connected to an external communication equipment or a distributing box using a patch cord in the same rack. Also, in case of the application of Wide FSMs instead of FSMs to the chassis, a service enterpriser can easily increase the capacities of the subscribers up to 30% in the same space without additional cost.
FSM, equipped with two or more Wavelength Insensitive Couplers (WINC) therein, is a Functional Optical Splitter Module for monitoring the optical signal of Tx and Rx in an optical network system. An input signal is divided into two output signals with the specified ratio by WINC regardless of its wavelength. As measuring the output signal of 5% to 10%, a service manager can monitor the optical signal and diagnose any error without detaching a patch cord from the system in order to measure the optical signal. Thus, optical signal can be conveniently measured without affecting subscriber network by connecting simply a patch cord to the module.
There are 3 kinds of FSM modules : A-type's FSM inserted in the left column of the chassis; B-type? FSM inserted in the right column of the chassis; and Wide FSM.
